Register entry 073 - Thomas Clarkson Scoble
Visited the Bell Farm on Aug. 20, 1884 - Thomas Clarkson Scoble (1840-1900). Before moving to Winnipeg in 1881, Colonel Scoble was a civil engineer, working with both the Grand Trunk and Canadian Pacific railways, as well as holding various positions with the Ontario government. In July 1874 he spent 5 weeks at the the Ontario School of Agriculture restoring discipline among the students. In his capacity with the volunteer militia, Scoble served both in Toronto and the North-West Rebellion.
After his move to Winnipeg, he spent the remainder of his life in that community. Col Scoble accompanied Goldwin Smith (Register entry # 76) on his tour of the North-West, stopping to visit the Bell Farm Aug. 20 1884.
