Bell Hotel, Indian Head - Fire Insurance Plan - June 1957

The location of the Bell Hotel is shown on this 1957 Fire Insurance Plan for Indian Head. The Hotel outline is shown in the upper left corner, then occupied as a Garage by Mainland Motors.

In 1886, this building was proposed for use as the Albany Agricultural College, operated by Major Bell in association with Professor Henry Tanner.

In 1890 it was sold to Lord Brassey and converted for use as a hotel for his employees and guests.

The old Bell Hotel was demolished in 1964 and the site has been vacant ever since.
